The journey of OMG 2 began with rumors in January 2021, with initial reports suggesting Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal would reprise their roles from the first installment. However, this was later denied by Rawal. In June 2021, the sequel was officially confirmed, featuring a fresh storyline with Akshay Kumar, along with the additions of Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Arun Govil.
Filming commenced in Mumbai in September 2021, with Pankaj Tripathi starting the first schedule, followed by Akshay Kumar joining in the second schedule in October 2021. The third schedule took place in December 2021.
The film's soundtrack, titled "OMG 2," features music composed by Vikram Montrose, Hansraj Raghuwanshi, Djstrings, Pranaay, and Sandesh Shandilya, with lyrics by various artists. Two singles, "Oonchi Oonchi Waadi" and "Har Har Mahadev," were released in July 2023.
The movie's marketing campaign included the release of a poster featuring Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva in October 2021, followed by a teaser in July 2023 and the official trailer in August 2023.
Regarding certification and release, the film faced some controversy due to its subject matter, which blends sex education with religious themes. Initially advised 20 cuts and an (A) certificate, the filmmakers insisted on an (U/A) certificate and eventually received an (A) certificate with 25 modifications.
